  4. If you die tomorrow, can your loved ones get to your crypto?
  5. Did you ever give your recovery seed to family and pray that they wouldn’t lose it or forget where it went?
  6. Does your family know what coins on what addresses you stored? Will they remember years from now when they need to?

The Bad S#!t that can Happen to Your Recovery Seed

  1. You lost your primary recovery seed backup. Seedcret helps you to create your secondary backup so you’ll never lose everything to stupidity, a thief, or bad luck.
  2. You forgot the passphrase. Seedcret uses a smart passphrase as a backup. It’s smart because it’s never stored with the recovery seed and the whole thing is never stored online.
  3. The ones you love need access. So you got hurt or worse, you can give family or trusted friends have access to your backups.
  4. Your family forgot where the backups are. Seedcret sends out regular confirmation emails to remind them about the backups you gave them. We don’t let them forget.
  5. You and your family need a map to find all your coin. Seedcret helps with that map. Everything is right here. Use our wallet details template to create a map to the money!

Ways to make Seedcret work for you!

Set up customizable recovery plan based on your personal circumstances and needs.
With Seedcret, you’ll never lose your backups again.

The two backup scenarios below work best for most people.

Scenario A

  1. Keep the recovery seed and first passphrase part backup at home where it’ll be easy to find.
  2. Give your recovery seed and first passphrase part backup to a loved one so someone has it.
  3. Set a confirmation period that will send your backup person a confirmation email periodically to remind them that they have the backup you gave them. They click a link and you’re notified that they got it. If they don’t click, we notify you.
  4. Set the waiting period after your last reset to send the recovery email.
  5. Add your contacts to Seedcret and write a custom recovery email (We have a template you can use) that contains the second passphrase part. Your contacts need to combine this second passphrase part with the first passphrase part (they already have) to get full passphrase so they can access your coins.

Here’s a recovery email template you can use for this scenario:

“You can access the crypto using the recovery seed and the first passphrase part you already have together with the second passphrase part which is: [your second passphrase part]”

Scenario A benefits

  • No safe deposit box or/and estate lawyer needed
  • Trusted contact needs physical access neither to your home nor a safe deposit box

Scenario B

  1. Keep the recovery seed backup at home where it’ll be easy to find and remember your passphrase.
  2. Give your full passphrase backup to a loved one so someone has it.
  3. Set a confirmation period that will send your backup person a confirmation email periodically to remind them that they have the backup you gave them. They click a link and you’re notified that they got it. If they don’t click, we notify you.
  4. Set the waiting period after your last reset to send the recovery email.
  5. Add your contacts to Seedcret and write a custom recovery email (We have a template you can use) that contains information where to find your recovery seed backup. Your contacts need both recovery seed and the passphrase (they already have) so they can access your coins.
  6. We strongly advise you to store a second recovery seed backup (of course without the passphrase!) in a different place. E.g., using an estate lawyer or a safe deposit box.

Here’s a recovery email template you can use for this scenario:

“You can access the crypto using the full passphrase you already have together with the recovery seed, which you will find at my home [somewhere] and in a safe deposit box [somewhere].”
