What is KeePass
KeePass is a favorite free open-source password manager, which helps you manage your passwords securely.
You can store all your passwords in one database, which is locked with one master password. So you only need to remember one single master password to unlock the database with all your passwords.
The database is encrypted using the best and most secure encryption algorithms currently known (AES and Twofish).
For more information, see the official website.
Download KeePass for Free
Make sure you always download KeePass only from its official website.
You can use the standard installer, or you can also download a portable version which does not require any installation.
We recommend downloading the KeePass Edition 2.x as it supports more features.
Create New KeePass Database
First create a new password database where you will store all your passwords.
Start by clicking “File – New…” in the main menu.
Enter a “File name” for the password database and select a folder where you want to store it.
Then click the “Save” button.
Now you need to enter a “Master password” for your database and click “OK”.
Enter “Database name” and click “OK”.
A new database with sample entries will appear.
You can delete them by selecting and pressing “Del” key.
Then save your database by pressing “Ctrl-S”.
Create New Entries / Passwords in the KeePass Database
You can simply add your passwords by clicking “Edit – Add Entry…” in the main menu.
Because the password is generated by KeePass, you can keep it or enter a password of your choice.
In this example, we will create “LEDGER-NANO-S.dat” (VeraCrypt encrypted backup) entry, and we will enter MY-PASSWORD-123 as a password.
Using KeePass Passwords
And that’s it!
Every time we need to use the password, we just right click on the entry and choose “Copy Password”.
Then we paste the password we just copied wherever we need.
